The Author

The author, Scott Balson, is, above all, just an average Australian.

He has been involved with the Internet since 1994 and is the editor of Australia's oldest on-line daily paper, The Australian National News of the Day (@notd) which has run since October 1995. The three year old archives are available to paying subscribers. It is from this archive that much of the material in this book has been collated.

Scott Balson has been the webmaster for Pauline Hanson's One Nation since its launch in April 1997. His interest in the party followed his research on key issues effecting Australians today - research which he had gathered on the @notd. He resigned from this position in November 1999 after investigating what he calls the "2D Factor".

Through his involvement with Pauline Hanson's One Nation he was able to gain a remarkable and unique insight into what happened over the last eighteen months compared to how the mainstream media reported on the party.

This book is a product of this research and direct involvement. A unique study in how the Australian media have usurped their role as "custodians for free speech".
